I am entering this quilt in the Bloggers Quilt Festival. It is my Hawaiian Pineapple Quilt. Pineapples in Hawaiian are the symbol of hospitality.
June 2009 - Cutting it out.
Working on it during our vacation in July. I always have to have something to do.
And done in December 2010. It was sometimes low on my priority list.
Maybe I'll be hospitable and use it in my yard this summer when I have friends over with their children.
I love this. I am a huge appliquer myself, and I appreciate the work in this. Is it your own design?
ReplyDeleteabsolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAmazing work:)
ReplyDeleteI love Hawaiian quilts and yours is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is beautiful! I'm new to "Hawaiian quilts", yours is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I, too, am an appliqué lover and have been quilting for years, it wasn't until last month that I tried Hawaiian quilting for the first time. I only did a piece 15" big - fun enough, but I don't know about a large quilt like yours! I'm sure it took an awful lot of patience.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's a masterpiece! Great work
ReplyDeleteGreat job. Love the colors and the quilting. Hope you are only going to display it outside -not let someone sit on it!
ReplyDeleteCome see my entries
antique applique birds/flowers
and reproduction cheddar star.
Ooooooh! Lovely, lovely. Think I might be brave enough now to try appliquéing Hawaiian style. Have admired these quilts since being a student at what is now BYU Hawaii and seeing them in the Hawaiian village at the Polynesian cultural center. Thanks for sharing and have a great day (pg Wodehouse, eh!,, fell in love with him when I read an article about him and one of his shortcstoriesi in the new Yorker probably 40 years ago!)
ReplyDeleteWonderful colors, such a beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeletegorgeous! love the colors!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. I started doing Hawaiian applique, back before - when I was afraid of hand applique. Nothing like a Dresden Plate Quilt to cure a fear of hand work! Wonder what I might sew next!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous quilt! I love the colours you chose. And such a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteStunning! The colors are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing! I love hawaiian quilts but not sure that i would be brave enough to try one!

ReplyDeleteamazing patience & beautiful quilt, well worth the time!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful--but I'm not sure I would use this around little ones. Actually, I'm not sure I would use this, period; this is worthy of being displayed. It's just stunning.
ReplyDeleteIt took me 15 years to finish an 18" Hawaiian quilt pillow! I am very impressed by your quilt. It's gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteabsolutely gorgeous! well done.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful! There is something amazingly gratifying about doing a full quilt design Hawaiian style quilt. And if it makes you feel any better, mine took 6 years b/c I let it sit on the shelf for 4 b/w the applique and the quilting.
ReplyDeleteWow, stunning, the best I ve seen for the moment.

ReplyDeleteWow! I love the colors and I can't believe how much work went into making such a beautiful quilt. Did you just want to scream with all the cutting?
