Volcano Tiles Top Completed

Here it is looking rather nice.

I timed myself on this quilt.  It took 4 hours to cut and piece it.  Not bad, is that?  Of course, it was an easy quilt.

Clematis Hat

A friend asked me to knit a hat for a lady that she sees regularly when she goes to her chemo appointments.
The chemo hats that are given away are rather plain and mostly too large for this lady.  She likes nice yarns and nice fancier hats.  So I knitted this one.  My friend who is giving the hat is modeling it for me.

As I've said before, I love doing lace work and this hat was no exception.  I may do more of this pattern.

I did the flower from a couple of different patterns.  The first flower I knitted was too small.  I knitted a larger one and used the smaller one as the center of the flower.

Joe and Sarah's Quilt - Continued

It got too big for me to handle when I was laid up with my foot, so in August I put it away.  But now it's out and I added the borders.   With all the trapunto, it's rather like some hilly places.  It makes me wonder how it's going to lay on my frame.

I think I'm going to have to do some machine basting or stabilizing before I get into really quilting this.

But I have quilted trapunto quilts before and had no problem.  I don't know why these mountains bother me.

Come back for more.

Izzie Has a Birthday and Gets Her Prize

My young student Isabella had a birthday and just turned 3.  At class, I gave her my present of an apron and we put it to good use right away.  Her apron matches Eloise's that I made her.

And then what fun we had.  Izzie's grandma helps me with the class.  You know how grandma's just love to be with their grandchildren.
I made some sugar cookies and now the girls are coloring the frosting.

They are working hard at it.

And now to put it on the cookies.

And not just put it on, but eat it also.

Have to add some sprinkles.

More eating.

 And lots of nice cookies.

Volcano Quilt

We had a customer come into the shop that likes to hand quilt but does not like to piece.  So she is paying me to piece this quilt for her.  The kit is a Hoffman Fabric kit called Volcano Tiles.
The squares all have designs in the center, so that took a little time to make sure they were centered right.  On some of the fabrics the design really stands out like this one below.  Others are more tone on tone.

Here is the array of squares. I am timing myself on this quilt so I will be able to see what I make per hour.

All the short sashings have been added.

Judy's Quilt

I like the colors on this one.  It is very nicely done.

I stayed in my flower and leaf mode that I was in on the last quilt.  It worked for this one also.

Vicki's Blue and White Quilt

Eloise came into the shop the other day with her doll.  But she wanted to work and didn't want to hold her baby any more.  "Grandma, can you hold my baby?"  So this is where she sat and watched over the quilt I was quilting.

This is Vicki's last quilt of the 3 she gave me to do.  I did flowers and leaves all over it.

My Newest Lace Work

I love knitting lace.  It's not exactly relaxing but the results are so beautiful.  This shawl was one that was really fun to do.  I did run out of yarn at one point and so it took a while to finish as I had started other projects since I had to order more yarn.

The yarn is a wool with some silk in it.  It is very soft.

The pattern is one I bought online.  It is called the Holbrook Shawl by Dee O'Keefe.

 This is my Ravelry link.

Batik Quilt

Back in July, I started this quilt for my quilt guild.  I finished the top except for the borders and now I have them on also.
I love batik colors and this one was enjoyable.

Now it is waiting in line to be quilted.

Vicki's Farm Quilt

This has cute farm pics in it.

I don't use pantographs, but I do get ideas from them.  This is one of those.  The panto reminded me of chicken feet, so it was a good one to copy.

A Harvest Basket

I just had to start another new project.  I need more applique going still.  This is one from a magazine from 2004, so it's been a while.
A goal of mine is to do every project I like in each magazine I have and then get rid of the magazine.  This was the only project in this one I liked and it won't be done for Thanksgiving so it will be nice for next fall.
In the magazine it says to do fusable applique, but I'm going for needleturn.  I think the dimension of needleturn will look nicer.

I have everything cut and the larger pieces placed.  My husband and I are going away this weekend, so this is a good project to do, especially since I'm not walking really great yet.  We'll have to see how that goes.
