Winter Knits

These are some things that I make last winter.  Now that winter is past I am posting them.
I did post this hat, but without Asher in it.  It looks much better with him wearing it.

Sometime babies need hats that tie so that they don't pull it off.
Cables are really fun to do.  Don't be intimidated by them.  They aren't that hard.  They just take a little more time.

I found some old yarn that I made scarves with a few years ago.  I made one this winter and young girls love them so I made more for prizes.

Here are my models.

And hats are popular also. This one was knitted in Seahawks colors for Seahawks fans.

I wanted to do some fairisle knitting, so this is it.  It does take more time using other colors, but is well worth it.
This is also out of old yarn I had hanging around.  I would like to use it all up.

My Cuddly New Afghan

In our home, we do like afghans to cuddle up in during the colder winter months in the evening, or for taking a short nap. I have quite a few, but it was time for a new one.  I decided since I like knitting I would knit this one.  Most of my others are crocheted.

This afghan is made up of individual squares.  The 4 patterns of the squares are shown below.

I used a worsted weight yarn.  Because it's knitted, it is thinner than a croched afghan would be but it's also softer.

I like how the different patterns show up.

Grandbaby Knits

Gideon is my newest grandchild.  He is 5 1/2 weeks old.  Here he is wearing a little outfit I knitted him. It is a warm, soft, cuddly, furry looking thing.  Just nice for the cold weather we've had.

It took a bit to find the yarn for this.  The blue is from Joann's and the white is from Hobby Lobby.  Those aren't normally the places I find yarn, but I did want to see the texture, especially of the white chenille type thing.

                                                                    Ravelry link

This is Melanie  wearing a romper I knitted her.  Even though it's not summer. it goes great with tights.

I took a pattern I had and adjusted it for the dots.

This last one is one I made for Melanie when she was first born.  She outgrew it quite quickly.

It is a quick knit only in newborn size.  If your baby is born 9 lbs., don't knit it.

Melanie's New Quilt

I just finished the quilt that I have been making for Melanie, my almost 4 month old granddaughter.
It's a copy of a picture I saw with a lot of changes to it.

These were all fabrics that I had hanging around in my stash.  I'm really trying not to buy fabrics for a while so that I can use up the things that I have.

And of course I am showing Melanie really enjoying her new blanket. Isn't she a cutie?
