Little Baskets and a Squirrel

I have made many animals for prizes for young girls in sewing classes.  I thought that I would try something different and see how it goes.  I think they like these items.
They are crocheted baskets. They can store many nice little things in them.

This basket is crocheted from a cotton worsted yarn.
It is about 4" in diameter.

This one is from a super bulky yarn.  This has a stiffer body to it and works well.  I did starch these baskets.

I do have to stick a squirrel in here. He is knitted and fluffed.

My Hawaiian Quilt

This is a finish after many weeks of applique.  Now it is on my bed.

This is a king size quilt.  I pieced fabrics together to make it work.  I love batiks and that is why I went with them.

My basting method was safety pins. It does take a lot.  My applique turned out to be loose as I noticed when I went to quilt.  I did the quilting on my longarm.  I have some puckers because of my loose applique.  I never had that problem before.  Maybe it's just from getting older.

The rest of the pics are random closeups that I took while my husband and son were patiently holding this quilt up

The pattern is one I drew from a pic of one that I liked on pinterest.

Gideon's Quilt

My newest grandson just received his quilt.  His Mom sent me a picture she liked and I was able to pretty much copy it.

This was a very simple and fast quilt to put together. It was so fast I didn't get any pictures along the way.

These are detail pictures

And of course, here is Gideon himself laying on it.

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Lots of Little Prize Animals

These are prizes that have been knitted or crocheted over the last couple of months for the sewing class students.  They love them.
Most of them are free patterns and I will post my Ravelry link for them that will take you to the pattern if you like.

I really wanted to do a hot air balloon.
This one has an elephant in it.

Some Little Cotton Rabbit Elephants.  These are for my grandson, Gideon.

Now this is a cute little monkey, holding his banana.

Who wouldn't want to eat this?  The Snowman Ice Cream Cone.

And last but not least, a couple of ladybugs.
This one is knitted.

This ladybug is crocheted.

Dear Jane GHI

These are the first 6 blocks in the rows of G,H, and I.  Little by little it is getting done.
This is 1, 2, and 3 of these rows.

Closeups of some of my favorites.  I just think I like the coloring in this one.

These are 4,5, and 6 of these rows.

It is the coloring that makes blocks my favorite when looking at them.
I am also getting pretty good at paper piecing as that is what most of them take.

The Chocolate Bear Family

This is my chocolate Bear family.  They are a copy of some that I saw on Vastoys. I really love the color  combinations that she uses on her toys. She sells the dolls, but not the pattern.  I used my Little Cotton Rabbits pattern for the bears and most of the clothing.

This is Papa and Mama Bear.  All my yarns are Knitpicks.  I used worsted weight yarn on these dolls.  The weight of the yarn is what determines the size of the bears.

I did copy the skirt pattern from the vastoy bear.

These are big brother and sister.  They were knitted with sport weight yarn.

 Look at that tail.

And these are the baby bears.  I used a different color yarn on these bears, which I don't like as much.  I may change them out.
