It's Cold Outside and Time for Hats

I'm knitting hats and not baby hats this time.  i'm knitting them for prizes for sewing class students in our business.  I don't teach, I just make prizes.
Clara is my 4 year old model.  Some are a little big for her and some fit fine.  The girls taking sewing lessons are between 4 -9  so they should all work.

This is one I made up the pattern for.  It was rather fun.  Fair Isle work is challenging and produces really nice hats.

This was an easy pattern using a very soft cotton thick and thin bulky yarn.  Bulky hats knit up fast and this one is very nice. As you can see, it's a little large for Clara and it is the child sized pattern.

This one is also a little large for her but I knit the fair isle rather tight.  Hmmmm.....  I'm learning how to loosen it up.  Again it's a chunky yarn and fast knit.

Natalie is also wearing a hat too large for her.  It would fit a small child. Another fair isle.

This is a newborn hat that I knit. It's a fingering yarn polka dot style.

As you can see, I like pom-poms also.  I bought a pom-pom maker from Hobby Lobby and now these are the easiest things to make.  And everyone likes pom-poms.

What! More Little Toys?

They keep coming. And they're not going to stop for a while.  They are fun to do and children love them.
They are all free patterns.  Here is the link to my Ravelry page and you can look them up there.

Flowers on My Hawaiian Hanging

I have all the squares and leaves appliqued.  Now it is flower time.  When that's done, I'll put these borders on and time to quilt.

It's been several months since I've started, so here's a link to the center of the hanging.

I'm looking forward to the finish of this applique.

My Dahlia Try

My daughter grew dahlias for the first time this year.  They did great and she gave a lot of bouquets away to friends in the neighborhood.  My granddaughters also got into it and helped. It was a lot of fun.
So I thought I'd try to make a dahlia  wallhanging.  Since I chose pinks I told the little girls that they could have it to hang in their room.  They always get excited about the things I quilt and they are looking forward to this.
But it does have problems.  I'll have to see if I get them worked out.

A you can see, things didn't come together in the center correctly.  I looked at it with my paper pattern and now I am redoing the center dark pink to line up with the paper.  I just rip out that small seam and line it up correctly.  We'll see if that all works out properly.

Here's Eloise ready to go out with her flower wagon.
