My New Shawl

This is probably the most difficult knitting I've ever done.  I started over about 3 times.  I finally put the string of yarn called lifelines in, so that I wouldn't have to rip the whole thing out. I was fun to do, but took a lot of concentration.  You don't stop in the middle of a row.  In fact, you don't stop unless the pattern repeat is all done so you easily know where to start next time.

This is the Queen Silvia Shawl designed by Nancy Bush.
It took me close to 2 months to knit.  Every evening.

The knupps don't show up like they do in other women's pictures.  Maybe I do them wrong.

When I went to block it, I found a nice hole.  I also found the end of a piece of yarn that broke.  So I had a little weaving to do.  But it worked out fine.

Maybe I'll try beading on my next lace knitting project.

  2. Oh I have started knitting projects that I had to rip out and start over several times, so I totally understand. It sure looks beautiful. I came to your blog from Quilting by the River and I noticed you live in Olympia. I lived there 17 years (both children were born there). My mom lives there and my sister lives in Shelton. Now live in sunny New Mexico.
