The Making of a Wholecloth Quilt part 2

I finished drawing my pattern, and so I'm now squaring my fabric off. That will make it easy to find the center.
Here I am tracing onto the fabric with my pattern underneath. I'm using a blue wash away pen.
This is how it looks without the pattern.  On this photo it's pretty hard to see.

New Toddler Sweater

I knitted a sweater for a new baby as a gift.  We took pictures of it on her older sister.  I always like pictures better with a child in it.  I used an acrylic yarn that I had lots left of.  It is a nice soft color.
She didn't want to take it off when done, so it must be a good sweater.  Her sister can grow into it.

Baby Quilts and Etsy

I'm working on 2 baby quilts these days for babies that are going to be showered upon tomorrow. I will go, but their gifts won't be there yet. The first is on my machine right now. This one is ready for the machine. This quilt is very patient though. And the babies won't mind waiting also.

As of this moment my tablecloth is on the front page of Etsy. And you ask how did you find it out? My sister let us know. I think Etsy automatically put it on our facebook page. This tablecloth has made it to several treasuries and even another blog. It is the upper left hand corner picture. You can go to my twins Etsy shop to see it http://www.whatkidslike.etsy.com/ .

Here's another picture of that tablecloth. It has lots of views but no sale yet. But if it sells I'll have fun making a new one - a little different but maybe still red? That seems like a fun summer color.

The Making of a Whole Cloth Quilt

I am starting my second king size whole cloth quilt. It takes talking to the bride and showing her books with lots of quilts. She told me the different things she liked about the quilts she saw, and then I drew this. The border is from an old pattern meant for a block I believe that I got from my Mom's stash.
This is the inside that I got out of a Karen McTavish book - with adjustments

These are some rays I had printed that I will use on this quilt and be able to save and use on any quilt. This printing makes it easy to trace and they are all evenly spaced
Now I am ready to work on the cloth.

My young student

This is a young friend who is learning to quilt. She loves making gifts for her friends - young and adult. She's making a quilt for one of her teachers who likes birds. Here she is using my machine to do her quilting. Anyone can quilt who can learn to do continuous line drawings. Paper is a good way to practice.

A baby sized customer quilt. This woman made the quilt out of her child's clothing.

2nd Dress Quilt Done

Two down and only one more to go. I like this picture with the piano in the background. It adds a touch of elegance.

My Snowball Bush

This is the bush that I got my bouquet from. Last night we had a wind storm that brought big branches down, the power out, and my bush is down. I think it's only uprooted so that we can replant it.It was probably too top heavy. Isn't it lovely though?

Doily #3

Diana Berry in Anne of Green Gables (how do you underline on here?) wants 27 doilies when she's married. My oldest daughter decided the same thing. She doesn't want a quilt. So this is doily #3 for her collection. Here it is on my table with my flowers.

Only 24 more to go. How long will that take?

Snowballs in Summer

Spring is my favorite season of the year. At least that's what I think when it is spring. I love watching all the different flowers bloom and the trees come to life. This is my snowball bouquet. It has pretty woody stems and is a little harder to get into a proper bouquet but it's worth it to have them in the house besides outside. I love being able to get fresh bouquets from my yard.

Customer quilt

This is a T-shirt quilt I quilted for a customer. The first one that I have ever done. She put a stablizer on the back of the shirts which works really nicely to make them not stretchy and firm. The bottom Beer Nut block is to have signatures.
Close-up. I stippled or outlined the shirts and did leaves on the borders and sashings. It is rather a leafy quilt. The man who is getting it is a chef. Notice the basil in the narrow sashings.
She pieced the back also. Lots of greens.

Projects

Here's a crib size quilt I'm starting for a baby named Zoie. Zoie means life and life comes from the Son/sun. So I decided yellow was the color. I did not follow the instructions in the book, which has you arranging and piecing each separate piece. That's too much for me. I sewed 4 strips together and then put them together. There are 8 different yellows and 3 whites. This is the newest whole cloth I started designing this morning. It is for a wedding present.
This is the last sweater I knitted. As you can see it's all packed up ready to ship, and then I realized I didn't get any pictures of it. I haven't done any like it either. So this is the best shot I have

Quilt of Dresses

This is the first done of the 3 quilts I'm making from dresses. My customer is very happy with them. All the quilts look the same. I'll show more as I get the others done. This quilt is sitting on the lovely new lawn furniture my children bought for me for Mother's Day/Birthday.

Mom and Baby Bags

I bought Geta's bag patterns and here are my renditions. This top one is out of a canvas fabric. I like it very much. This one is out of quilter's cotton. It isn't quite as sturdy. I would tend to go with the canvas again and not this. I really like the mini version also. Her instructions are very easy to follow. She is quite detailed so as you flip pages you feel like you are moving very fast on them. They were quite fun to make.

P.S. One really neat thing about her bags is that they have 5 pockets - 2 on the front, one zippered in back and 2 inside. I really like pockets.

Time to Sleep under Music

This is a quilt I quilted for a customer of mine. It's full of musical fabric. It also has some Elvis and 3 Stooges etc put into this quilt.
I did every square with a treble cleft,an eighth note and a rest. Soon it'll be time for this girl to get some rest.
