Daisy's New Cardigan

Daisy is enjoying the flowers and her new sweater. I did size it wrong at the start (too small) and had enough yarn to where I just started it over.  That does happen.  So I have a sweater mostly done that I can finish for someone else.

 This is a Sirdar pattern that I've used before.  It has a nice eyelet throughout.

 I used a Knitpicks cotton blend yarn that is very soft.

 And it has one nice shell button.  The Ravelry link is here.

Jacob's Ladder

I pulled an idea that I had pinned on pinterest  and am making this small quilt.

 I cut many, many beige squares

and I made many half square  triangles.  Everything is from scraps.  I'm trying to use things up, but I don't think I made much of a dent in my brown scrap bin.

I have one square now completed.

Nativity - Fabric is Completed

This was a pretty easy thing to do so far.  Cutting shapes and fusing them to the interfacing.

 Now comes the real work.  Adding all the black bias.  I am planning to do that on my longarm as the quilting process also.  It will take time. Put a little glue on the strips or pin? Or if I get some fusable strips that might make it easier.  Hmmm....

This woman just doesn't stop bringing me quilts.  She is one busy lady.

 This is an overall design. No starts and stops.   A custom overall.

 This one is a variation on my twirls.

Continuing on the Nativity

I've been working about an hour several days a week on this Nativity project I started last month.

I've been using newsprint to trace a template of each piece.  Then cutting it out of the fabric.

 You can see I have the colored copy of the original underneath my interfacing.  It's not necessary, but can be helpful at times.  I also have a smaller copy of the the stained glass which is what I really use for color reference. 

I iron my fabric pieces onto the interfacing and that holds it all in place.

Look how the stars shine in the sky.

 Everything will be outlined with black bias.  That will be the stained glass.

I will also do thread work especially around the star in the sky.

It is quite a challenge, but fun.

Sandy's Shop Hop Quilt

I received another shop hop quilt to quilt.  It seems to be the season for completing those tops.  This is a more recent one(last year's).

 This one is also the Western Washington Shop Hop.

 I did a custom job for this one doing each square a different design.

September's Potholders

If you noticed I make potholders every month.  They are gifts that I give to friends for their birthday.

I had this apple fabric leftover.  Just a scrap of it.  I even had to piece one of the triangles to make it long enough. 

 I decided I wanted to use some of my Provence fabrics for the other ones.  I don't cut them up so these are very simple ones to make but very pretty also.

My New Sock Monkey

I have a memory of a sock monkey when I was growing up.  It was when I was a small girl.  Whether it's a true memory or not, I don't know, but it got me intrigued to make one.  I've seen such cute ones online.  So I tried it.

This monkey doesn't have a name yet.  He doesn't look like Curious George, so that isn't his name. 

 

He is for the granddaughters to play with.

What would I do different next time?  Look for socks with a contrasting heel.  That would make him more interesting.

Juliet loves to cuddle babies and monkies.

 I would also leave more seam allowance.  I've had to mend him already, because I cut too close to the seam.

You can find a couple of places with instructions online on how to make him.  

 

 I think I will try another one sometime soon.

Joann's Shop Hop Quilt

This is a quilt Joann did from the 2005 Western Washington Shop Hop.  I did an overall design of swirls on this one.

 You can look at the many different squares that were used.

Two New Children's Aprons.

Eloise needed a new apron for cooking at our house.  She was getting too big for the one I had and it became Juliet's turn to use it.  Clara actually might be about ready to use it.  But I decided to make a new one for Eloise.  My aprons are just too large for little girls.

So I took some of my stash fabric and came up with this.
 This is Eloise's pose.

 I was so excited with how her apron came out and also how quick it was,
that I decided to make another apron a size larger to sell.  Daisy is posing in that one.

 Now I need to get the girls out of pose mode and into playing mode.  Here's the back of Eloise's apron.
