Babies with Their Gifts

I've blogged about these knitted items already, but now the babies fit them and I am showing you my cute grandbabies wearing the item I made them.

This is an older picture of June.  The sweater and booties are newborn size.  She is probably outgrown them now.  Isn't she sweet.

Here's Asher in a romper I made him.  This pic is very recent.

And also the sweater that goes with it.  He is 4 months old.

And then the youongest is Natalie.

She is still pretty sleepified but is waking up more and more.

Some new Animals

I keep knitting and crocheting prizes.  It doesn't stop.  Little girls really like them.  It's amazing.

Here are 2 kittys. Do they look like cats?  My granddaughter knew what they were right away and was excited about them

Natalie's Quilt

Yes, another baby quilt gets going.  After all, I have all these new grandbabies.  This is for Natalie, the youngest of  them.  It is pinwheels with applique on the top of it. I am copying a quilt I saw on pinterest.  It is one I could buy the instructions in a book, but I think I can figure it out.  Most of the quilts in that book didn't interest me.

Today you get to see a taste of it. 

Lots of pinwheels.  38 in all if I counted correctly.  I am doing them the method where I cut 2 squares and sew around the outside edge of the squares.  Then I cut them diagonally and I get 4 half square triangles I sew together for the pinwheels.

I'm also doing a different type of pinwheel in parts of the quilt.  This is one fourth of that one.

I love all these pinwheels.  You'll have to come back to see the top put together.

Two Fun Dresses to Knit

I had a great time doing these.  Maybe I was imagining my granddaughters wearing these.  They will some day, maybe not too far off.

This was a free pattern. I used Baby Merino by Drops on these dresses.  It is a very soft yarn and machine washable.  That is important for baby and children clothing. It makes it easy for mom.

This pattern also had a bootie pattern, but I decided not to do that one.

The yellow is a 3 month size, the pink is a 6 month size.

I can't wait to show your pics with the babies wearing these dresses.

I knitted an I-cord rather than crocheting a chain.

Asher and His Quilt

Asher's quilt is completed  

Even with his name on it.

The backside is a lovely minky that goes with the theme of the quilt quite well.

Hanging on his crib with his initial on the wall.

A deer came to visit.

Actually, he lives in Asher's room.

And here is Asher.  He is now 4 months old.  He was in Children's hospital for 3 1/2 months and has been enjoying his last couple of weeks finally in his home.

He and his parents are very thankful to be home.  Now all his friends get to see him easily and get to know him.  

June's Quilt

I am on a patchwork roll.  They look nice and are fast and fun to do.  This quilt probably took about 5 hours to cut and piece.  Here's how it went. 

I went to Beech Tree Lane and followed her instructions.  She made it easy with strip piecing.

I cut 16" strips from my fabrics and pieced 4 of them  together.

I didn't care which 4 they were as long as the same fabric wasn't in the strip. I used 6 different fabrics altogether.

Then I cut them into 3 1/2" strips.

I mixed them all up.

 I sewed these large 16 patch squares.

I laid them all out the way I wanted them.

And put them together.  How simple is that?  Now it's time to make the sandwich and quilt it.
