A New Sweater for a Daughter in Law

I had made my daughters and my other daughters-in-law sweaters, but the newest one I hadnt yet.  So she found a pattern she liked and picked out the yarn.  And here it is.

She picked out a lovely lacey sweater I knit with a cotton yarn.

It didn't take a lot of concentration, but had plenty of interest to keep it from being boring.

Here is my ravelry link.  The pattern is called Indigo Cones and is available for free.

I'm always so happy when I knit adult sweaters and they actually fit.  I always take a sweater they own and like the fit of and measure it across the back.  I make sure mine is the same measurement.  It has always worked so far.

Here is Sarah with her husband (my son) Joe.

Hexie Tablerunner

This is a finish that almost got frogged.  It had a lot of problems and the white borders are all askew.  But I hate frogging things because then they are always in the back of my mind.  So not it's a finish.

This is a first time for doing hexies, which was rather enjoyable.

I just couldn't come up with a good method for the white in the background.  I do like the holes though.

 Have a great day!

It's Bear Time

This is a pattern that I just had to pin, he was so cute.  It didn't take me long to get him going and he doesn't take long to make at all.

I think he's coming out of hibernation so that you can have a look.

He even has a tail.

He is made by hot glueing.  The only sewing is the buttons for the eyes and the buttonhole stitch to put his front and back together.

He will be a prize in the prize box for my granddaughters.

Winter Wonderland

It is the end of the year and it seems I am getting projects finished up.  Maybe then, I can start some new ones.  I am getting things in my mind.  This is one of my finishes.

This is also a fusing project as my nativity was.  No sewing until the quilting came along.

My husband and I were spending the weekend in Victoria and I did go to a  quilt shop and bought this pattern.

Some of the pieces got pretty small.

 Especially those ice skaters.
I stitched their ice skates on.

For Unto Us a Child is Born

This is the Nativity quilt that I have been working on for a while.  A friend of mine started it several months back by having the idea, enlarging the pattern and choosing the fabrics.  I was helping her with the process.  Then she decided she wasn't going to get to it and asked me if I'd like to do it.  I thought that was a great idea.  I've had a lot of fun with it.

I outlined the main pieces on a piece of interfacing.  Then I cut the fabric to fit and ironed it on.  It was a lot of cutting and ironing.

I then cut very narrow strips of a fusible black fabric that I used for the outline, etc.

I had some fuzzy fabric for the sheep.

This is now hanging in our church vestibule.

And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;  (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed."
Luke 2. 34,35

Sheri's Quilts

Go Hawks!  Around here we are Seahawks fans.  And so is Sheri, my customer.  She made 2 Seahawks quilts that she's giving for Christmas.
The front is the right colors.

I quilted footballs all over it.  Some of them are a little funny in shape.

The back tells anyone who doesn't know, what team you are rooting for.

It's Getting Cold!

It does get cold sometimes in the Pacific Northwest.  And it has been lately.  I made this lovely cowl for my daughter for her birthday, just in time for the cold. It may help.  It is lightweight, fingering yarn with a lacey look, so it may not be real warm but it does add some class to what you wear.

This is knitted with a Knitpicks wool.  The color is very sweet.

My Ravelry link is here.

For the Prize Box

I think I'll keep making things for the little girls prize box.  They seem to like them a lot.  This is a cute little bag, very easy to do.

You can find the tutorial on this site.

It probably took me about an hour to do it.  The hardest part is finding the coodinating fabrics amongst my scraps. It's even lined.  I think they should like it.

Bev's New Sweater

I'm stretching myself out on a limb showing me in the sweater I knitted for my sister.  She is about my size, so I figured I was the one to get pictures in it, before I shipped it off.  She has received the sweater and it does fit her, but her new excitement is her first granddaughter just born yesterday, so it might be a while before I get some pics from her.

This is knit with a tweed wool from Knitpicks.  The pattern is a Debbie Bliss.  I have knitted baby sweaters of hers with the same kind of collar.  They must be one of her favorites.

My Ravelry link is here for more info.  It was an easy knit, no changes were made.
This will keep her warm in her cold Kansas winters.
