One finished. One working on.

This is my niece's quilt all ready to send. Quilting really makes the quilt. Here is a view of the feathers in the border- although they're not real seeable.
My trapunto quilt is on the frame in this picture. But really I took it off today. Now for the cutting. That is what I think most of the work is. And being very careful not to cut the fabric.

Ready for spring?

This is Charlotte. She is ready for spring. And wants to be enjoyed by some little child. And this is Daisy. She is also ready for spring. She's a little bigger than Charlotte so she doesn't need as soft an egg.

This is Raggedy Ann and Andy. About 30 years ago I made a lot of these dolls and sold them. I think they will sell in our shop. Besides they are too cute not to have.

For a young girl

This is a quilt done for a customer she will give to a young girl. It's a very pretty quilt. One large patch. What a good idea.I did daisies all over it. Sometimes the simplest quilts are the most fun to quilt.

Floor project #2

This is a quilt I am making for a wedding present for some friends. I let Grace go through my quilting books and tell me what she likes and I would try to do it for her. She really liked the quilts in Karen McTavish's wholecloth quilt book. I found several things she liked and am combining them to get the look Grace wants. She wants a shadow trapunto with roses. So here goes. On the floor is the drapery batiste I bought. It isn't the best thing to use, but it is sheer and I will only need to put one seam in it. Here I am squaring it on the floor. This is my paper pattern. I actually drew it a couple of years ago wanting to do a whole cloth, but it wasn't a priority. I'm changing the flowers to another type of rose, but other than that it should work nicely.

Here I am drawing on the batiste. That is where I'm at right now. I'll keep posting my progress and my troubles.

Floor Project #1

I'm on the floor today squaring off this quilt. I had more problems with quilting this quilt than I do with customer quilts. I'm glad it was mine anyways. To start with the tension was off. I used a new brand of thread I hadn't used before and it would break a lot and I had to keep working with the tension. I really like King Tut and now I like it even more. I also took this one off the frame and turned it sideways after doing the blue quilting. I should have thought of that in the first place because it would have saved a lot of stops and starts and this is a form of a strippy quilt. After turning I had extra fabric on the non quilted side that I had to deal with and things did not turn out evenly. It was a king size, now it's a queen size. I hope my niece has a queen size bed. Here's a close-up of some of the quilting. The border is all large feathers, but doesn't show up front and back. I should have used a little lighter thread.
Now to get on my knees again for floor project #2 - another wedding quilt.

First of Five

This is Coconut and Palms. It is the first of five that I am making from the fabric that Nathaniel and Louise bought for me. They might end up having this one.A Closer up view.

This is the doily I started last July (You can see the start on back posts). Then I put it away, and now decided to finish it. It's a nice little doily and I like the knitted look. My points aren't as even as a German would do them. Maybe I'm lazier and don't want to spend the time to get them right.

A customer quilt I finished yesterday. It has more detail work than I usually do.

I'm enjoying knitting from pattern books that come from the 50's. These hats are a part of that.

Also this one.

And this sweater. These have been great fun to do. Quick and simple also.
