Ginger quilt

I'm working on a wallhanging today that I got an idea for because I love large flower applique and Hawaiian flowers. So this is ginger. Ginger has such bright colors. On this photo I think I'm missing a leaf, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I may have to cut a new one. I was originally going to make it without borders, but this morning when looking at it I thought borders would add a good touch. I will needleturn the whole thing because it makes it stand out more than machine applique. I considered doing a 3D effect on the flowers, but after trying a few I decided against it.

Yesterday I also was busy even though nothing was posted. I quilted on my Lenny longarm for a customer. I also received a new supply of cotton yarn and am starting to knit dishcloths for the fair next month. I love knitted dishcloths with some texture and I also like the stretch they have.

Baby Blankets

I'm trying to make baby receiving blankets today. When my children were babies I made them all the time and really liked them. So... I thought maybe I could sell them on our Etsy site or off of our porch. We hope to do a spring fair this May which we are also stocking up for.
But I need help with the minkie. It stretches so much when I sew, I can't make it come out right. Maybe some one has some tips for me.
By the way, I am making some for boys also. I guess I just tend to lean toward fabric for girls.

Today I just finished a crib set for a friend of mine that I had made a quilt for last fall. They are getting ready to put their baby into the crib and wanted everything matching. I was glad I was able to find at least one of the fabrics still at the store with quite a bit left on the bolt. I had about a yard of the light blue and odds and ends of brown, and the bear fabric. I got it to come together quite nicely. I did curtains, crib skirt, and the bumpers.
The dark blue is what I mostly used for the curtains, the skirt and the back side of the bumpers. When she has her crib I'll get a picture of the whole thing.

I'm still figuring this whole blogging thing out. It's pretty fun to do. Pictures of our porch shop-

A New Day

Hi! My name's Elaine. I am a quilter and sew ...and sew...and sew. I am a mother of 8 children. They range between 27 and 16 - a pair of twins near the end. They also sew. They are Victoria and Veronica and are 18. They are making a business of sewing toddler clothing and custom apparel for others that they get through alchemy on Etsy. We have two etsy shops -1. stitchnquilt and 2. whatkidslike. Check us out. They are also getting into accessorizing their clothing more with flipflops, hats, etc. We like to try all things.

I make quilts. I also knit.

We also started a boutique on our porch of things we make and also what our friends make. Not much business there yet, but hopefully it will come
