Whats on my Machine Monday

This is a customer quilt. Line dancing in the squares and feathers on the white. This woman does a beautiful job of piecing. Her points are all perfect. I'll show more when I am done.

Little Things

I've been working on little things lately, like these booties and socks.I'm also adding to my zoo.
My card reader isn't working, so I have to go a roundabout way to put pictures on. A little more work but maybe I'll get the hang of it. I'm also getting lots of jobs and spending quite a bit of time in the store. Next I'll be getting ready for Thanksgiving - but I have lots of help there.

This is my Dear Jane square complete. As you can see, it's not very good. I might put this quilt on the back shelf for awhile. This is a customer quilt. She likes the edible fabrics. I like them also. I've collectied some but haven't quite figured out how to use them besides hot pads. She did a nice job. It'll make a nice lawn quilt.

Dear Jane

I decided to try one square of a Dear Jane and see how it goes. I've always admired women who work on them. The pieces are tiny. Here they are all cut out and marked on the back. I decided to hand piece them. They seem too small for a sewing machine. So this is my first time at hand piecing. I've seen people do it, and read about it some, so here goes.
A little later. Things aren't quite as nice as I'd like them to be. Were Jane's perfect? I will get this one done, but it'll take some energy for me to start a second one. Now I'm really admiring those who do this. Sometimes we have to try something to really appreciate all the effort that goes into it. This will hopefully be a 4" square when I'm done.

Customer quilt

Here's a quilt I just took off the frame. The front is very busy and flowery. She used nice fabrics. The back is a rich green flannel. The back is what shows off the quilting. She did want a lot of quilting.

She also had a high loft polyester batting, so I did as much quilting as I could. I did the squares with an overall leaf and ribbon. A leaf vine for the sashing. That helped to bring in some puckering she had.

Feathers on the border. Thanks to Sally Terry for her class.

Knitting

This has been my evening knitting project for the last 2 weeks. It's a smock for a customer.A closer up of the work.
I'm also knitting these booties from the same pattern. I think they are a little big, but would go great with socks for slippers.

Victorian Table Runner

This is the Victorian Table runner I started with my quilt guild. Here is some of the quilting.
It's hard to see here, but the quilt was all straight edges. The curve comes in through pulling back loose pieces, similar to cathedral windows, I believe. It was a new tecnique for me and worked out quite well. On my longarm I did have to hold the turned edge back so it took time, but the stitching went well.

The last two days I've been working on baby blankets with the fabric I got from Portland.

Getting Dressed

I dressed my trees and my snowman. Tomorrow while I'm watching the store, I'll put the borders on and load it onto my machine. I think it's going to be a little wide for a table runner. Maybe it's a long wall hanging.

Snowman Tablerunner

I've been thinking about doing a snowman tablerunner. About a week ago I put something together on EQ5 and I just cut the templates from there and I'm pretty much doing it by sight. This will all be raw edge applique, so these pieces are on a fusable backing. I just basted my snow to my sky.. Here are some close-ups going from left to right - this is all very changeable as nothing is ironed down.

As you can see, I don't even yet have snow for the trees, but the paper gives you an idea.

The snowmen do need some color yet. - hats and scarfs.

Newest off the frame

This is a very pretty quilt that I'm doing for my quilt guild.Close-up of the square design. I did have to stop and start on every circle. I couldn't figure out how to do it otherwise.

from the back, some of the sashing.
This one was quite fun and as with all the guild quilts, I try to stretch myself a bit and get things a little more exact. I don't know if I just sometimes go to quick on these, because I know it's not for a customer.
