Vaira's Quilt

Very nice houses.  I'm always a sucker for house  quilts.  Just pinned some this morning on Pinterest.

 She had started quilting this quilt and I guess she gave up. So I  got to finish it.  She had quilted all around the trees.  I quilted in the trees.

I don't need to buy a baby swing.  This is much better.  She gets very excited sitting on our porch swing and I get to swing with her.  Doesn't she look small?

A Soft, Soft Robe

This pattern is in one of my Debbie Bliss books.  I always liked the photos and the idea and thought I'd give it a try.  Here's Elisabeth wearing it.  She'd been swimming so it seemed a good time to put it on.

 It's knitted in seed stitch from a cotton boucle yarn from Knit Picks.  It is super soft.

 The body was knit in one piece, so it didn't seem like I was getting very far, very fast.  Elisabeth wasn't sure she wanted to keep it on long enough for pictures.

 But big sister Annie wanted to give it a try.  It still fit her but just was shorter.

Eloise's New Book

I couldn't resist this fabric panel when I saw it.  I went for the first time to a local sewing machine store that also sells fabric.  I wouldn't have know that except someone told me they have a good selection of 30's reproductions and Civil War reproductions.  So I stopped by and saw this.

 I love old-fashioned drawings such as these.

 There are 10 pages of pictures, great for any young child.  These were fast and easy to put together - a very simple project.

And here's Eloise getting to enjoy it for the first time.  She's got her new cowgirl hat on also.  Hopefully, one day she'll really enjoy all the animals in it.

Heart's Desire - The Center is Together

I appliqued the leaves and berries on the center block.  I really like how they look.

 And I sewed blocks together so that I could applique the overflow leaves onto the neighboring blocks.  I really like the idea of going out side the box (or borders).  I think it adds interest to quilts.

 And then I got all the blocks put together.  I am still working on finishing the leaves.  My center isn't quite square so there will be some adjustments as I do the border.  You can't just rip out a square and adjust when the leaves and stems go across.  I should have been more careful.  But the quilt will be so busy I'm sure I can make the adjustments.

Eloise with Farmer Pig

I had to add this pic after yesterday's post.  She looks so cute sitting next to my pig.  She really doesn't have too much interest in him.

Farmer Pig

Women bring items to my quilt guild that they don't want anymore, such as fabric and patterns to give to anyone else  that may want them.  Someone brought the panel to this Farmer Pig which I took home and have now sewn up.  He's pretty cute.

 I couldn't get his tail to curl up right.  I think I added too much stuffing.

 This is one corner of my porch where I keep some herbs and other plants.

The begonia especially is really looking nice.
