More New Knits to End the Year

Meet Asher.  He is 3 1/2 years old and a real twinkler.  This is a nice boyish hoody that I knitted for him.  I used different washable wools.

It was a very easy knit with nice colors

This is Gideon.  He'll be 2 this coming month.
This sweater had a little bit of a challenge with the bottom band.

The pattern is from OGE which has many cute baby patterns.

This is June who is also 3 1/2.  She has a very cute sweater with some texture to it.  It makes for not boring knitting.

It has a nice cable weave in it on the shoulders.

This is Melanie who is 2. She is totally girl who likes to wear dresses.

And this is Gideon's Mom.  I knitted her a vest.  It looks pretty nice for an adult sweater.

All of these can be seen for more detail on my Ravelry site

Clara's Quilt

I was going through old quilting magazines and tearing out the quilts that I like and then throwing the magazines away. We get so many ideas these days through pinterest, that I don't feel like I need to keep old magazines that I never look at.

I came across one that I liked and ripped it out.  A couple of my granddaughters were over and the younger one liked the quilt a lot, so I made it for her.  Here it is.

I think it may be called Ohio Rose, but I don't remember for sure.

I bought the white fabric and used scraps for everything else.

For the backside, I had a piece of fabric that I hated to cut up because the print is so nice.  This was a perfect opportunity to use it and it goes so nicely with the quilt.

Knitting and More Knitting

I have been knitting constantly, mostly for my grandchildren.  As you know, winter is almost here and they do need to keep warm.  So here are some pictures.  Everything is on my Ravelry site.
These are only some of my works.  I'll put more on next week.

This is Melanie.  She loves to smile for the camera. I actually made this dress to send to a great niece of mine.  but Mel fit it, so here's the pics. I used a washable wool, which is the only kind of wool I use on children's knits.  It makes it easy for mom.

I really like the ruffles.

This is a sweater I knit for Elisha.

This is a pattern that is a Debbie Bliss.  I have knit it several times and really like it.

And a hat to go with it.

Look at those eyes.

Eloise asked me to knit this one for her.  We picked out 2 different fingering yarns and put them together.  It turned out really nice and looks good on her.

This sweater is an old favorite of mine.  A customer that we've had for years asked me to knit this one again for her.  I have 2 different children posing with it.  I wanted to see how it looked on a 2 1/2 years old and a 3 1/2 year old.  It fits nicely on both, so it should wear for a long time.

Chickadees

For the past 2 years we  have had chickadees build their nest and have their babies on our porch.  The first year it was in a fuschia that was in a hanging basket.  The nest year it was in a pot right next to our door.  So  I saw this little chickadee hanging and decided to copy it.

The applique on this hanging is all fused.  That makes it go  quickly and I don't really have to think of the skinniness of the branches.

I think they are such cute little birds.

Here is a photo of the eggs in their nest last May.

Crown Royal Quilt

A customer came to me with lots of little bags. Crown Royal Whiskey Bags.  He wanted a quilt.  I had never seen any quilts made with these bags until he came.  Now I've seen quite a few on Pinterest.  They seem like something that is done.  So here's the quilt I made for him.

He had quite the selection of bags, different sizes and colors.  It was a challenge to come up with a plan to use all of them.

Dear Jane is very Dear

My finished version of Dear Jane.  This one was 3 years in the making.

I love applique borders and so that is the way I went with this one.  The little squares were enough without thinking of triangles.

I quilted only on the white to make the colors pop.

Clara's Quilt

I was ready to start a new quilt.  I had ripped one out of a magazine that I was throwing away and was considering it.  My granddaughters were over and I thought the quilt looked rather like one for a young girl. I asked the girls if any of them would like it, and Clara immediately answered that she would.  So it will be hers.

It's applique and now the top is all put together.  I do still need to applique the borders.

It was one that was very easy to applique, quick and fun.

Here is a pic with the feet and some more of my girls helping me to lay it out in the order that we wanted it.
