I continue making doilies very slowly for Naomi. Was it 23 that I'm going for? I'll have to watch Anne of Green Gables again to find out.
This is a very pretty lacy doily. I used a #20 cotton which is thinner than the normal crochet cotton. I love the sheen this doily has.
Wasn't it Myra Gyllis who had 27 doilies, so Diana Barry was determined to have 28? Or was it 26 and 27?
ReplyDeleteOh! It's beautiful! Lovely photography, too! It's been a couple years since I've made a doily, but you're inspiring me!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how to make one of those, but I am incredibly impressed by how beautiful yours is. So much fine detail! My grandmother made many doilies and I have a few of them, they are treasured family heirlooms that I'll pass down to my girls some day.
ReplyDeleteMyra Gillis had 26 doilies and Diana was determined to at LEAST as many as her. They are lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love Anne of Green Gables! I'll have to pay more attention next time when they refer to doilies though. It's beautiful, Elaine!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work. I love handmake lace!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Always, Queenie
I love handmade doilies. Yours looks so great under that vase with flowers. Very inviting!
ReplyDeleteI love to crochet doilies, especially from #20 and #30 thread. This one is very pretty. Pineapples are my favorite I think,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful doily, Elaine. My girlfriend made me two gorgeous pieces when my mother died, and I cherish them. I'm really sad that they're in storage right now - I'd love to have them here in the apartment with me. Naomi is a lucky woman. :) Enjoy the process. Don't you just love Anne of Green Gables?
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is - Wow!
ReplyDeleteAmazing!!! You must have incredible patience!!! Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteThis is becoming a lost art....so nice to see and hope some of your offspring or grand-offspring continues it...
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. I love dollies. My mom made dollies often.
ReplyDeleteThat is stunning workmanship!! Give yourself a pat on the back:)
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty!! I made some doilies back when I was a kid, and they're a lot of work!! Whoop whoop!!
