A Canning Cupboard Without the Work of Canning

 Over the last couple of years, I collected fruit and vegetable fabrics.  I made potholders with some, but I still have quite a bit.

So I decided to make a plan for a canning cupboard.  I've pinned several that I am using as examples of what I want.  It's not the kind of quilt you want to cuddle up in (with all this food hanging on you?) so I am making it into a wall hanging that could hang in someone's kitchen, I hope.  I have no wall space in mine. I just like the idea of making it.

It was quite fun just drawing it out.

I think maybe the round jar should be candies.

As I  took these fabrics out of the bin they were stored in, I saw that I had other project ideas and fabrics in there also.  I had forgotten about these.  Hmmm....

More with Clara - and a New Sweater

This sweater is one I have knitted before and liked it so much I had to do it again.  The last one was a cotton. This is done in a washable wool.  Clara is showing it off for us.

 Normally I wouldn't like knits that show the wrong side out - or it looks that way anyways.  But it's the way to make the cables stand out.

 I love the bonnet because it is a bonnet, not a hat. Baby girls should wear bonnets.

Clara's Quilt

Clara is 7 months old. She is finally in her crib and I finally finished her quilt.  

 I am a fan of Sunbonnet Sue so I had her incorporated into this quilt.

 Juliet is enjoying a romp in Clara's crib.

 The applique is all fused on. The stitching happened with the quilting.

 And here is Clara.  You'll here more about her sweater and hat tomorrow.

While I was taking those pics, I also took pics of Eloise and Juliet on their beds with the quilts that I made for them.

So far I'm able to keep up with each grandchild.

A Family of Ducks

I finished up my duck wall hanging and it is now in Clara's room.  It is her whole family with Clara being the smallest.

 As you can see, I was last working on this in October.

It takes a while to get to the quilting, but this is the month to get my projects done.

 Here's Mama duck close up.  They are 3-D ducks that can lift their wings and their bodies and flap around.

Back to the Farm.... Again

I looked back in my blog and discovered it's been many months since I've done anything on my farm.  It's still been on my wall, so I do look at it a lot.  So finally last week I did a little more on it.

 I got tired of looking at the skinny lane that I had done and now made a thicker one.  I also put my garden back on figuring it didn't look as bad as I thought it had.

The pond was a real stumper for me.  It is a manmade pond and you climb a hill to get to it.  I couldn't figure out how to do that. But after looking at many landscape quilts, I decided it is the stitching that will make it look like a hill.  Anyways, I hope so.  Lots of curves.  So I added my weeping willow tree (which may be to large) and our bridge.  It was a green bridge, therefore it is green blending pretty closely with the grass I have.

 It's all made to be fusable, but I am not confident enough to fuse most of it down yet. You never know what changes I'll make.

One Old String Quilt

A customer brought this top into my shop and wanted it completed to give to his mother.  It seems his grandmother had pieced it and it must have been stored for several decades. 

 I put a flannel on the back because it is a lap quilt and I just think flannel is quite cuddly.

 Look at these fabrics.  What years are they from?

 I'm sure his mother will enjoy this quilt very much.

Batik Quilt Finish

I finally got this quilt finished that I started in July.  Here's the link to the last post I did on it. January is a slow month in my longarm business, so it's a good time to quilt my quilts.  I do have a pile up, so I'm glad for the slowness right now.  

My quilt guild was given a lot of kits that we sold to make money for the guild, but this one I took home as we decided that it would be a good one to make up and give to a foster child when they graduate.  That is one of the ways our guild gives out quilts that it makes.

 I did an overall swirly pattern on this.

 I really love batiks. I should make more quilts with them.  The colors in the fabrics are so delicious.
