Harold the Handyman

In the Village of Little Dumpling lives a man named Harold the Handyman.  He's very good at fixing many things, especially flat tires.  Here he has just completed fixing one of those tires for Lord Lancelot.

He makes sure he keeps his rag on him to wipe his hands.

 Great fix job.

This is a Jean Greenhowe doll  from her Little Dumpling Collection.

Such little pieces but really easy to do.  It just takes basic knitting skills.

 I really like his hat.

We are gearing up for the Superbowl.  We've actually been geared up all season long waiting for this moment to happen. I don't have a jersey, hat or any of that stuff.  My children (adults that they are) are wearing Seahawks clothing all week long.
But I do know how to make some desserts.  Here's my Seahawk dessert that I made for my family gathering
last night.
Go Hawks!!!

Four Little Bibs

As you can see, I'm learning to count.  I had 3 little fish last week, now I have 4 little bibs.  I don't know that I can count any higher.  That would mean more work.
But these bibs were very easy to make.  I found a pattern online and adjusted the sizing some to suit me better. I think I made them backwards from most people with the opening on the opposite side. It's my left-handedness.

I just went through my stash and found fabrics that I thought would suit a baby.

I also keep terrycloth on hand for such projects as these.

I used velcro for the fastener.

Now they will be for sale in our shop.  We needed to stock up.

Saturday's Canning

Saturday I spent some time with my fruits and vegetables.  I got my apples, onion, and potatoes into their baskets and crates.  This I am doing as fusable applique.  That seems to work easier for this part than piecing.

I also got the cookbooks arranged with the candy jar and some fruit.

I'm getting the system down.  It's had bumps in the road but coming along.

Three Little Fish

It seems I took a break from quilts this week (except for my longarm project which is something very special).  I saw this cute pin for these fish and had to make them.   This tutorial comes with them.

These fish do several different formations as they swim in the sea.

They are really enjoying the sunny day.

This is a very fun and quick project.  It probably takes as long to make just one as it does to make 3.

And they are fun for some little people to play with.

Rose of Sharon - Continued

Applique is one of those things you can work on later in the afternoon when you're back is hurting from the day's activities.  It's nice to sit for a few minutes and hand sew.  Here's my progress. You can see I have  the middle squares all finished and put together.

Now I am working on the border.  I am enjoying this more and more.  I love the old fashion squares with applique borders.  And the fact that it's small keeps it from being overwhelming.  I could make quite a few of them.

Juliet and a New Scarf

After I made Eloise her yellow socks, I still had quite a bit of that yarn leftover. It is yarn I've had sitting around and I don't really care for it.  It's an acrylic and soft, but not my style.  So I made a scarf for Juliet from some of it.
She didn't really want to perform for me that day, so here's what we got.

The scarf is a lace.  I'm always looking for lace patterns.

It has a large buttonhole, so for a child it's great because it won't fall off.  This one is still a little large for her.

The Veggies and Fruits are ready to Can!

I got my food all harvested and it's ready to go.  I don't get dirty hands from this kind of canning.

One picture isn't enough for a blog post, so here's some granddaughters in their chair fort.

I had to have 2 pictures since I wanted a smile on each of them.

A Couple Pairs of Socks

I've been knitting for a few years now, but had never knitted socks, except for booties and baby socks.
So I thought I'd give it a try.  I had bought yarn for this project a while back knowing that I wanted to do it sometime.  I also like lace knitting so that was the type of sock I wanted to do.  Straight stockinette?  No,no.
But as you can see, of course with the yarn I chose you can not see the pattern at all. I'll have to do it again with a more solid yarn.

While knitting, my granddaughter who is always interested in what I'm making, asked me what it was.  When I told her I was making socks, she told me that I should make her some also.  What's a grandma to do?  Make her some also.

These are a lace knit also with a solid yarn.  You can see the pattern on this pair.

The socks are also a little large for her.  But that means they'll last a while.  She likes them.

My Fall Harvest Basket Quilt

I know it's past fall now, but this lovely wallhanging is completed and ready for next fall.  This one had it's pitfalls in the piecing stage as you can very well see.  Quilting really helped it out and it will look lovely on a wall.

You can see the magazine I  got the pattern out of here.

The applique was a lot of fun.  So was the quilting.

Piecing is not my forte. So you're not getting a closeup of the  X's.  Also the diamonds are lacking.
But it's for me.  I'd rather enjoy the process than be too frustrated.  Although I am into learning, practicing and getting better.
