New Baby Shrug

Here's another new baby shrug and cap. The shrug is a Debbie Bliss pattern-my favorite designer of all baby and children patterns. The cap is from a 1950's pattern. I made it because I had enough yarn left to do it also. It's a wool that isn't my favorite and I probably won't use it again.

Blue Hawaiian Sea

This is a quilt that a friend of mine pieced. It's probably her first quilt. I think it looks very nice.
Some closeups of the quilting which is very hard to see.

A Wreath of Flowers

This is a beautiful quilt. My customer bought the top on Ebay for very little money. She is putting it in an auction for charity. I did a simple design since she didn't want to spend a lot, but it still makes the quilt lovely.

Sweaters

A couple of sweaters I knitted up for a couple of (I'm sure) sweet girls. Great for Easter.

Quilting with clothing

I am making 3 quilts like this one for a customer. She is having them made from her mother's dresses in memory of her. These first three are from the pinks and purples in her wardrobe. She was a woman who sewed her only clothing and was very good at it. It's hard to find a good design working with specific fabrics that don't necessarily go with each other, but I think this is working rather well. My customer is coming today and we will work out border details, and some shortage details (since I only have so much fabric that is in a jacket or shirt that is usable). I hope she likes the look of it.

Dear Jane

I repeated A-1 that I had done by hand before. This time I did it with paper piecing. It came out much better. A-2 is next to it. I made the pieces too small for the paper piecing, therefore the edges that don't come to a quarter of an inch. It looks rather rough, but I like the square itself. Will I really go on to achieve this great work. I don't know.

Purple Charm Quilt

My sister sent me a letter with these squares. It is a quilt tree. She wants me to work. I've never been a letter writer. Even bills that I have to pay by mail don't get paid. And now I have to mail out 5 letters of patches?I decided that I would just get to work and do it this morning. My fabric is not 100% cotton. I thought of that after I cut it out. But it should work about the same. I hope the ladies enjoy this that I'm sending this to. They probably will. They're not like me. It will be fun to get all the different squares. At least I'm not breaking the chain. The ladies in my quilt guild will know this fabric as pertaining to me. I do a lot of Hawaiian quilts and that's how they think of me.

Sunbonnet sue

These are photos of a quilt I completed for Baby Charlotte. I'm sure her mom will like it and she will when she's older. Some closeups although the quilting is hard to see.

The backside. It looks rather pretty.

2 new sweaters

I'm upscaling my knitting. This is a Matinee coat from a Debbie Bliss book. I knitted it with a soft, soft baby alpaca yarn. It turned out so lovely. Here's a closer view of the stitches
I knitted this with a washable wool for a small, small baby. Knitting can become an obsession and I think it can be a more expensive hobby than quilting.

Customer quilts

Newly finished customer quilts. On this one, the quilting really made the quilt. It just seemed to give a new dimension to it.
Maybe we'll have an early Christmas this year. Anyways, this wallhanging will be ready on time.
I love the bright colors of the poinsetta. My customer did this one paperpieced from a pattern.
